Who is the Car Service For?
The car service is for the elderly and disabled who cannot get around by any other means. Priority is given to medical appointments but we are also able to take clients to do their weekly shopping, or to the hairdressers. Whatever the need is we can usually provide the service. All lifts just need to be booked in advance so that we can arrange the trip with our volunteers. We do like 2 days notice but we are sometimes able to arrange travel with less time
You can use the service if you live in these areas: Barnards Green, Bransford, Great Malvern, Guarlford, Leigh Sinton, Madresfield, Malvern Link, Malvern Wells, Newland, Poolbrook and West Malvern.
Malvern Hills District Council will issue a free bus pass to all local residents, available at Malvern Library, The HUB, Graham Road, Malvern, Worcs. The free pass will be issued with proof of name, address, and a passport size photograph. The bus pass can then be used to gain the concessionary fare on our journeys.
Volunteer Drivers Wanted!
Are you a car driver with some spare time and would like to help your local community?
You would use your own car to provide individual transport for healthcare journeys such as the doctors, hospital, dentists and chiropodist or to visit someone in hospital. You would also take people for more pleasurable journeys such as to the hairdressers.
How often you drive depends on you and what time you have to spare. You could become one of our regular drivers or just drive on an occasional basis.
How far you drive depends on whether you prefer local journeys around town or to hospitals further away and also the needs of the client.
Expenses are paid on a mileage basis. We have arranged with local hospitals for your parking to be free.
Your insurance company will be happy to allow you to use your car and your ‘no claims’ bonus is protected by our insurance policy.
To apply to become a driver then please contact our office.
