Meet our trustees

Mike Amery, Trustee and Chairman

Mike retired in 2013 from a career in Human Resources Management in the NHS, and started driving the minibuses and wheelchair cars for CA in 2014. He and his family live in Welland, and he also drives his own car for Upton Community Care. He joined the CA Board of Trustees in 2015, and helped to implement Workplace Pensions for our staff. His other main interests are cycle racing and playing the cello.

Russell Emery, Trustee Community Action Malvern and District

For many years Russell was a Health & Safety Manager and Consultant in the Construction Industry – he started to drive his car, wheelchair vehicles and the minibuses for Community Action on his retirement in 2015.

He lives in Malvern Link and has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2017. His other main interest is membership of Malvern Hills Lions Club, of which he is currently President. He has a keen interest in promoting local charities wherever he can.

Nick Hubble,  Trustee Community Action Malvern and District

Following 22 years serving in the Royal Air Force, Nick has held senior management roles in both the public and private sector. He is currently working as a programme management consultant supporting clients across the UK.

 

Nick started volunteering as a driver with Community Action in 2017 and now shares responsibility with the other trustees providing support and oversight. He has lived in Worcestershire for 21 years and his other interests include being the Chair of the Defford Airfield Heritage Group at NT Croome.

Councillor Anne Cherry - Trustee

Anne is an active member of the Operations and Planning Committeefor Malvern Town Council, Victoria Park Task and Finish Group, and Staffing Committee Task and Finish Group. Additionally, Anne is involved with the Skatepark Focus Group and serves as a representative for the Malvern Bagnères de Bigorre Twinning Association.

Anne has been a great help with our office move to Malvern Link, her experience in decision making has proved invaluable.

Tony Palmer

Trustee

Tony has lived in Worcestershire all of his life, having been born on a farm in Clent.

He worked for 50 years as a Professional Quantity Surveyor in the Construction Industry.

Tony moved to live in Malvern twenty five years ago and retired from work eleven years ago. He has since filled his time with walking with his wife, contributing gpx mapping to OpenStreetMap,  bell ringing etc.

Tony helped to develop Heartstart Malvern and was a Trustee, Training Officer and a Trainer with them for three years.

He was a Volunteer Lock Keeper at Diglis for the Canals and Rivers Trust for three years.

 

He helped to organise the practical setting up of the Mens Shed in Malvern, for Community Action, and has been a Shed Leader since it opened in 2020. He has made many items in the Shed which have been sold to help the funding of the Mens Shed and has also helped to obtain external grant funding for the Mens Shed.   

Volunteer Trustees Needed

Community Action is looking for Volunteer Trustees to oversee and support the Charity's activities.
