Autumn Highlights at Community Action Malvern & District: Volunteers, Events & Out & About Trips

Autumn is always a special time across Malvern, and it’s been no different here at Community Action. As we prepare for winter and look ahead to the festive season, there’s been plenty happening across our teams, services, and volunteer community. Here’s a quick roundup of the key highlights from our latest newsletter.


What’s Been Happening

  • Link Light Switch-On – Friday 28 November:

    Join us for the festive light switch-on at the Link – a perfect way to kick off the Christmas season with friends and family.


  • Christmas Coffee Morning & Fayre – Saturday 29 November

  • Don’t miss our wonderful Christmas Coffee Morning and Fayre! Bring your families and friends to enjoy the festive Christmas atmosphere! Enjoy carols, The People's Show Choir performances, craft stalls, cakes and refreshments, Men's Shed stall, Santa and his elves plus raffle prizes to be won!

  • A Big Thank You to Volunteers: From event organisers to drivers, chaperones, trustees, and Shedders – every volunteer plays a vital part in keeping our services running and supporting local people.

    Nick “Barney” Hubble introduces himself, shares his journey with CAMD since 2016, and outlines his commitment to strengthening and building on our work in the community.

  • Men’s Shed Update:

  • The Shedders have created a handcrafted Christmas tree for the Malvern Priory Christmas Tree Festival. The group continues to welcome new members (men and women) looking for a friendly space to learn skills and connect with others.

  • Special Visit from Local Leaders:

  • We recently welcomed the High Sheriff of Worcestershire and the Mayor of Malvern. Volunteers Tim Kidwell and Sam Palmer were recognised with nominations for High Sheriff awards.

  • Out & About Highlights: A brilliant year of day trips thanks to National Lottery funding, including visits to the Black Country Living Museum and Weston-Super-Mare. These outings continue to offer friendship, support, and connection for local residents.

  • Volunteer Drop-In: We hosted a tea-and-cake gathering to thank our incredible volunteer drivers and receptionists for their ongoing commitment and kindness.

  • Call for New Volunteers: We’re always looking for more drivers to help older residents get to medical appointments, social outings, and community activities. Call 01684 892381 for more information.
